Wednesday Wishes

This is Wednesday leaning out of her cat tree. She may look like just your average gray tabby cat, but she has many skills. Most of these skills, she uses for The Good. Okay, 'most' might be a slight exaggeration. Wednesday is a good little kitty, though, at heart. She loves her family, loves her sisters, loves annoying those sisters and she also loves to grant wishes. Every Wednesday morning, I will rub the side of the cat house and summon our magic cat!

My Wednesday Wishes for the week:

1) A Magical Door - One that will take me back in time. Not permanently. On a day when I miss my grandma, I can open it and step right into her living room. General Hospital will be on the tv and she'll be making something yummy in the kitchen. Or maybe it's a Saturday morning and we're just rising around 10am. She'll make some yummy coffee. Or maybe it's a playoff game and we're at the stadium in her and grandpa's seats surrounded by their friends that tell us not to yell so loud (before she swats them on the head and tells them to stand up and cheer like a real fan!). It really doesn't matter what day as long as it's a day. It might be nice to step back into production for a day here or there - see old friends (and get paid to hang out with them!) and remember why I got out in the first place. There are even high school and college days I would step back in for a day! Relive the fun here and there. "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." Ah, Dumbledore. Always the voice of reason. But I promise not to sneak off in it often. Just every so often.

2) More Time to READ - Wouldn't it be nice to crack open that book you've been dying to dive into, read for as long as you like, then have it be exactly the same time when you closed it that it was when you opened it? I don't think reading should count. It's a GOOD thing. It's good for us, good for our brains. Why should we have to give up so much time to do such a wonderful thing? We shouldn't! Reading should be like hitting a pause button in our lives. Book opens, time stops, book closes and time restarts. I think we could get MORE people to read that way, don't you?

3) Another dog - Kharma Rescue just got a litter in.

Look at her!
So precious!
So precocious - you can see it in her eyes.

And this one!
That nose!
Those ears!

But I swore no more puppy and I'm sticking to. Holding firm. We'll foster puppies in the future - do all the hard work so they go easy into a home.

For now, this is more my speed...

Meet Damon, 7 years young. Enough time left that I don't have to be worrying over, but old enough that he's ready for just a good snuggle all the time! I love a dog with years. There's wisdom there. And so much love to give. They're always grateful for that second chance. Lily's a good girl, don't get me wrong. Fantastic even. But she has no idea how rough it is out there for dogs, especially her breed. Dogs like this know. And they're so happy to get another chance. Give them a bed INSIDE the house and some belly rubs and they are good to go! Man, I love that face.

What about you - what are your wishes for our Magical Kitty this week? Wednesday waiting to grant them...just after her mid-morning nap.

  1. Like a suspended animation reading kennel...or...something. That would be cool. I never have enough time to read.

Love all those doggy faces. So cute!

My wish is no more snowstorms. Seriously every 2-3 days it's another short but hard-hitting storm. I'm growing tired of these 2+ hour commutes.

  2. Isn't it funny how a few paragraphs can tell so much about what a person is really like? You are wonderful for doing what you do with these fabulous doggies!

My Wednesday wish? That Texas would hurry up and get their budget sorted out so that our schools have the teachers they need (facing layoffs of 1600!)

  7. Oh my god, I want the tan and white spotty puppy! He can secretly live in my dorm and sleep with me and cuddle all day and we'll go for walks and he can chase the squirrels and deer on campus and I'll give him baths in the shower and he can sit in my lap when I do homework and he can help me with it because he's a smart puppy and I'll name him Atticus and it will be wonderful.

  9. Even though I'm in a house full of cats your post full of doggy goodness (that doesn't sound *too* rude so it's staying) sent me scurrying to check the dog rehoming website again. I like to see what I'm missing out on from time to time.

As for wishes, can I steal the magic door idea? A towering stack of Paperblanks notebooks that will block out the sun. And a personal chef- lunch with my grandma included a delicious, pretty dessert which isn't going to make itself! And it would be lonely without a starter and main course...

  10. I love the idea of a magical door. :) Also, I'd love more time for reading and writing. Better yet, how about a clone that can do all my chores and work so I can spend more time with family, reading, knitting, and writing.

  11. I love these Wednesday Wishes, though I wish i could actually meet Wednesday one of these days. I've hung out with you twice and still haven't seen this magical cat. What I would wish for right now is at least a month off from work (fully paid, of course) so I can finish editing my book and start sending out query letters!

I'm getting all of my reading done on the bus to and from school it's about ten hours of travel a week and I'm amazed at how much I'm getting done!

My wish today is a time turner! I need more time in my days to get everything done

  17. Those are the cutest dogs ever!

Magical door is a brilliant Wednesday wish. Me, I'd wish for the ability to speed edit. I've spent 6 hours getting through the first 95 pages of my hard copy edits and I can't believe I still have 250 more pages to go...

Am I whining? Probably. I'll shut up now.
