Whatcha Readin'?

In the midst of NaNo, I forgot my love of books. I have spent the last few days burying myself. Oh the joys of opening pages and stepping into another world. But my pile is actually LOW.

Yes, I said it.

My To Be Read stack is no longer a stack.

I am down to a single book.

I have three more coming in the mail from Amazon.

Perilous by Tamara Hart Heiner

Matched by Ally Condie

CassaStar by Alex J. Cavanaugh (and don't get me started on how annoyed I am that this has taken SO LONG to get to me...still waiting)

So they will be cracked open as soon as they get here but my goal for the month is ten books and this will only put me halfway there.

Whatcha readin'?

I have a library trip planned for Wednesday and I need recommendations!

Give me a world I can step into, get lost in and not want to put the book down until I'm finished. Give me sleepless nights huddled under the covers with the flashlight so I don't keep The Hubster awake! Give me, give me, give me!

  1. Haha, I'm giving dystopian and YA a go so I've got Maze Runner, The Giver and The Hunger Games reserved as well as The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet. Yes, I'm a little late to the YA/Hunger Games trend lol.

Recommendations- um, Enduring Love? The Narnia books? Roald Dahl? I don't know, I haven't been thrilled with the last slew of books I read. (And reading about the craft has just made me pickier, agh!) I will have to think about it some more!

  2. I'm in the middle of 3 books now: Bram Stoker's Dracula, Crown of Stars v.4 (Kate Elliot), and The Stranger (Max Frei).

Have you read Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series? Or his standalone debut novel Elantris? I readily recommend those. :)

  3. I have the latest Artemis Fowl waiting on me and the two Jane Austens I didn't get to this summer; we'll see.

I highly recommend trying Unwind by Neal Shusterman. It's a YA with a very provocative premise. If I taught high school English, this would be on the reading list. Always.

Let us know what you pick and have fun!

  4. Wow! Amazing list!! You'll love them!! I've read all but Alex Cavanuaghs!

    I'm reading:
    The Lipstick Laws

    Up next:
    The Espressologist
My Fake Boyfriend is better than yours
    Twenty Boy Summer
    Fixing Delilah
    Anna & The French Kiss
    The Sky is Everywhere

    Too many? NEVER!

  5. Besides Anna and the French Kiss (which you HAVE to read), I just read Nevermore by Kelly Creagh and loved it! The atmosphere of that book is incredible. And I'm loving anything by E. Lockhart right now--the way she writes the voices of her books teaches me so much!

  6. Wow, I don’t think my TBR list will ever go down to 1 book. I’ll be happy when it does down to 100 books.
I’m currently reading “Loyalty in Death” by JD Robb. It’s the ninth book in the Eve Dallas series. With most series, by book 9 it starts getting boring, but JD Robb just keeps improving instead.
I’m also about to start reading “Hunger Aroused” by Dee Carney.

  7. Give me, too! :D I'm trying to finish Hunted, and I don't care for it... But I think it's b/c I won the book and you REALLY need to read the first four before it... LOL!

Curious to hear what you think of Matched. Have not read it. Happy reading~ :o) <3

  8. I hope you live Maze Runner. I really did. Still need to get the second one. My TBR pile is overflowing and as books and movies are all I'm asking for for Christmas it's only going to get worse in the best way!

Matched looks so good! Need that one too...and Alex's. Dang, I need to get that. I hear a lot of people are having that issue, his being back ordered or something-not getting to them.

  9. Well i guess that is good for Alex right? I mean obviously not the waiting fans but the fact that he is sold out(I hope he is sold out)

  10. Ready for your next addictions?

These are all book series by the way, so they will probably last you a whole year :)

Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins
    Septimus Heap by Angie Sage
    Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo
    Pendragon by DJ Machale
    Sweep by Cate Tiernan

All very awesome fantasy type books

  12. Thanks for ordering my book! I'm sorry it's taking so long. I know there was a huge amount of library orders - maybe that sucked up the first run?

  13. I would recommend Incarceron, The Dome, the Sookie Stackhouse series, and Robin Hobb's Assassin series.

noticed you liked The Name of the Wind - any idea when the next book is going to come out - for real?

  14. I'm reading Graceling (which is old by todays standards lol). I have Alex's (ahem..I wonder if I was one of the library orders- I ordered his for my library) so I need to read that, and a bunch of others I can't remember on my pile. I want to read Matched though, oh and I have Firelight by Sophie Jordan on my tbr pile. I read Paranormalcy too which I LOVED.
