Wednesday Wishes

This is Wednesday leaning out of her cat tree. She may look like just your average gray tabby cat, but she has many skills. Most of these skills, she uses for The Good. Okay, 'most' might be a slight exaggeration. Wednesday is a good little kitty, though, at heart. She loves her family, loves her sisters, loves annoying those sisters and she also loves to grant wishes. Every Wednesday morning, I will rub the side of the cat house and summon our magic cat!

My Wednesday Wishes for the week:

1) The ability to control the weather! I want it to stop raining when I need to walk the dog and start up again when I'm home and ready to write! It would be nice to make it SNOW! In Burbank! That would shock everyone. And when I say control the weather, that means I can call down lightening and throw it at mean people as well. What good is weather control if you don't have THAT ability??

2) Donations. I wrapped a gift yesterday and guy left two PENNIES. Even better, I wrapped five for a very particular guy and he left me forty-five cents. Yes, the gift wrapping is offered free. I'll do it for you for FREE, but don't ask me for the bow and ribbon I paid for out of my own pocket if you aren't going to leave a donation because then we're out money. And you know where you can shove that attitude when I tell you so as well. On the flip side, I had a very grateful man watch me wrap his extra large globe, plus five other presents and he left me a twenty. Made a big show of it too - not to show off, but to show the line of people what donations means. Also, had the CUTEST teenage boys that only asked for one thing each, were so polite (including running to get me a copy of one of their books) and each left me $2. That kind of stuff just melts my heart. A dollar is a decent donation. But don't leave me two pennies please. You might as well keep those.

3) A Very Merry Christmas to all of you! May your holiday be bright, full of family and joy. May you all be safe and happy and healthy!

What about you - what are your wishes for our magical Wednesday?

  1. I have only one wish for Christmas, besides World Peace of course: publication! And soon, cuz, I'm not gettin' any younger here.

I like your Wednesday cat and her little house. My Copernicus would like it, too :)

  2. Re: Donations. People can be such jerks. I work as a waitress so believe me, I know. Two cents is ridiculous. I’ve actually had a co-worker who got that as a tip and threw it back at the customer and said “I don’t want you to break your bank”. That was great, we all have wanted to share our two cents with that customer, she was just the only one to do it.
Anyway, have a Merry Christmas. Hope you get everything you want.

  3. I hate it when people donate 2 cents or even worse, when people TIP 2 cents. I used to be a doughnut hustler/coffee goddess in high school and had a guy come in, ten minutes to closing, and asked for two dozen doughnuts that we had run out of. Being nice, I offered to go make him some more which was me cooking and glazing and icing and sprinkling the doughnuts.
The guy then proceeds to tip me a nickel. Because I was about to quit this job anyway and because I was grumpy and still had to clean up and it was already 11:00 at night on a school night, I threw the penny at his head (it did miss) and told him he could just keep it.
I was a really disgruntled doughnut shop slave.

  6. Haha, a magic cat named Wednesday. That's great. Um, yeah, pennies used to be considered an insult if left as a tip!

  7. Oh! I can't stand stingy 'tippers!' It's insulting. Sorry you had some bad encounters, but the guy with the twenty, and the two teeners, that made up for it some....

  8. I like Wednesday.... a cat with loads of personality. I used to have a llama named Wednesday's Song because she was born on Wednesday and when you're raising llamas, you soon run out of names. Then I had to pick a name for my email and I chose Wedsong and people always ask thinking it's from matrimony. Sorry about the boring information, but your cat's name triggered a memory.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and pets..
